Mable Drucilla "Dru" Ellis, age 82, Galena, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, following a short illness.
Dru was born to parents Jania Lee Dameron and Manford Samuel Dickson in Joplin, Missouri, on August 3, 1939 and lived in Galena, Kansas most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Raymond K. Dameron and her brother, Tom Edwin Dickson.
Survivors include two sons: Don Ellis (Dawn) of Joplin, Missouri, and Sam Ellis of Little Rock, Arkansas; and three grandchildren: Tyler Ellis of Reno, Nevada, Austin Ellis of Reno, Nevada, and Courtney Ellis of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dru attended First Church of the Nazarene in Joplin, Missouri. She was a member of the Galena High School Class of 1957 and enjoyed attending monthly luncheons with her classmates. She retired from Eagle Picher's Precision Products division after working there several years.
A memorial service will held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 2124 Utica St., Joplin, Missouri, 64801. A reception at the church will follow the service.
The family is requesting memorial contributions be made to First Church of the Nazarene in lieu of flowers.
