Nancy Anderson was born April 8, 1809 in Pennsylvania and married Samuel Bair likely in the mid-1830s. Nancy and her husband would become parents of a son, Samuel Bair Jr. on May 4, 1837 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

Although it is unknown what caused the end of her first marriage, Nancy would marry Ezekiel Horton in Pennsylvania in about 1840. Ezekiel Horton was born in Pennsylvania on June 23, 1819, the son of Abner Horton, a native of England, and Susan (Evans) Horton. Sons Jonathan and James were born to Ezekiel and Nancy while residing in Pennsylvania.

In 1866, Ezekiel and Nancy moved their family from Pennsylvania to Fulton County, Illinois. They resided there until the fall of 1879, when they came to Fillmore County, Nebraska and took up a homestead of 80 acres.

An attack of paralysis struck Nancy about five months before her death, which occurred June 6, 1886. Ezekiel died March 12, 1891 at the home of his stepson, Samuel Bair Jr.

Ezekiel and Nancy are buried in the Horton Cemetery, northeast of Fairmont, Nebraska on Road 18 (4 miles east of Fairmont on Highway 6, then 3.5 miles north on the west side of the road). Their grave, marked with a small grey headstone, is located in the northwest part of the cemetery.
