Linda Katherine Traylor (Kathy) passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021, in Friendswood, TX.
Kathy was born March 6, 1953, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Sarah Bodemuller Barnett and Earl Shyrigh Barnett III. Kathy grew up in an U.S. Air Force family, living in Japan, Hawaii, and Plattsburgh, NY among many other places. While growing up Kathy enjoyed her years as a Girl Scout and enjoyed sewing her own clothes.
Kathy attended University of Arizona and graduated from LSU with a degree in Business. She married and raised three children in Louisiana and Houston (Clear Lake). She excelled in baking; her children always had beautiful birthday cakes!
Kathy attended Webster Presbyterian Church, which was across the street from her home, and worked in their childcare center. She later began a career at Kroger and was part of the Kroger team over 17 years. Once when EMS was taking Kathy to the ER, the staff was calling her "Linda". One of the medics said, "Please call her Kathy, she goes by Kathy". He had known her for years because of shopping at Kroger. Being out in public with Kathy was fun, because many people would call out her name, wave, and stop to chat with her. Her smile was beautiful, and she was a friend to all.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Sarah (Sally) Barnett, her three brothers, Rick Barnett and wife, Fran Brockington, Doug Barnett and wife, Liz Lu, and Charles Barnett, and by her three children, Steven Carl Traylor, Christina Traylor McSpadden, and husband, Jacob, and Theresa Massad, and husband, David-John. Kathy has three grandchildren and five nieces and nephews who will miss her. Kathy was predeceased by her father, Earl S. Barnett III
The family extends their thanks to the staff at Morada Friendswood and Faith Community Hospice for their loving care. Thanks also to Crowder Funeral Home in Webster.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life, officiated by Rev. Helen P. DeLeon, at 3:00 p.m. on September 11th at Webster Presbyterian Church, 201 W NASA Pkwy. Masks are required in the sanctuary, and social distancing will be implemented. Memorial donations to honor Kathy's life may be made in the name of Linda Katherine Traylor to the Alzheimer's Association.
