She was born on January 21, 1937 in Tallahassee, FL to the late Noble and Dorothy (Rohrer) Rouch and grew up on a farm in Lakeville, IN. Flora graduated from Manchester College and taught Home Economics in Mishawaka and West Lafayette. She went on to earn master's and doctorate degrees in Consumer Economics from Purdue University where she then was employed as a professor for 33 years. Later in life, Flora earned a Master of Divinity degree from Bethany Theological Seminary. While a Professor at Purdue, she taught at UC Davis and Federal University of Vicosa in Brazil while on sabbaticals and was a guest lecturer in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China.
She was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash award and was very active with the Lafayette Church of the Brethren where she played piano. Flora had authored over a dozen books and enjoyed bird watching, music, gardening and landscaping.
Flora is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leiw Williams; three children; four grandchildren; and three sisters. Her parents and a brother, John, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home Lafayette Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 with Pastor Steve Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette.
