He was born to Rev. John F. Meyer and Lillie "Belle" (Sims) Meyer on March 11, 1962, at Fayette, MO. He was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the honor of Eagle Scout. He graduated high school from Arnold Public School in 1980. He attended Chadron State College from 1982-1984. In 1982 he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he became a Recruiter. John was named the Top Recruiter for the State of Nebraska twice during his 16 years of Service receiving the Chief's 50 award. He was medically discharged in 1997. He was always proud of his days of service.

John married Renee Jacobsen in 1984 and to this union two children were born, Derek John and Drew Jacob. John later married Kerry Neu on June 7, 2003 and he became a father to her boys Aaron and Mason.

John and Kerry loved each other to the moon and back! They were soulmates who did everything together and supported each other and their family no matter what. Kerry was his best friend, partner, and caregiver. They were looking forward to their loving future together. John was a Husker fan, enjoyed gardening and taking care of the flowers, and he especially enjoyed Mexican food. They loved to travel, especially their special trips through the Black Hills. John was a wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be lovingly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his loving wife Kerry of Gering; sons Derek (Rachel) Meyer of Lincoln, Drew (Alyssa) Meyer of Omaha, Aaron Nab of Cheyenne, and Mason (RaVae) of Las Vegas; grandchildren DJ Meyer, Declan Meyer, Peyton Meyer, Macy Meyer, Millie Meyer, Gracelynn Nab, Pierce Nab, and Noah Nab; sisters Marsha (Brad) Johnson, Johnna (Kevin) Windgate, and Joy (Tom) Allgood; father and mother-in-law Gary (Susan) Neu; brother-in-law Kory Neu; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

His parents; and sisters Betty Ann Fitzpatrick and Wanda Boggs, all preceded him in death.--Bridgman Funeral Home and Cremation Service
