Virginia L. "Nanny" Aker, of Carbon, Indiana, passed away on August 29, 2021, at Greene County Hospital.

Virginia was born on February 11, 1924, the daughter of John and Fay (Tribble) Egloff. She attended Van Buren High School graduating in 1942. She was the last remaining member of her class and the oldest person living in Carbon. She was united in marriage on March 28, 1947 to Warren "Ole" Aker. He preceded her in death in 1966. As a young girl, she worked as a secretary at American Vitrified Clay Factory, in Brazil. She also worked as at the Fashion Shoe Store in Brazil, Roots Department Store in Terre Haute, and Kroger in Brazil.

We know she has already had a bowl of ice cream with Jesus and is handing out chocolates to everyone. She was known for her cream pies and Nanny's noodles. She accepted challenges as she got older that included climbing tree houses, riding up in bucket trucks, and agreeing to be in Snapchat or TikTok videos with her great grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Fay Egloff; her husband Warren "Ole" Aker, a son Johnny Aker; two sisters Betty Linton and Evelyn McClain; and one brother John Fredrick Egloff.

She is survived by her daughters Becky Hayes and Cheryl Aker of Carbon and one son Gary Aker (Helen) of Brazil; grandchildren: Brady Aker, Julie Wells, Ryan (Crystal) Aker, Jamie (Misty) Hayes, Cory (Misty) Hayes, Jenny (Zach) Little, Amber Schlatter, Danny (Brittany) Hayes, Megan Aker, Dalton Aker, and honoree granddaughter Brenda Thompson. Virginia's legacy also continues with fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends.
