Vernon A. Kjos, age 94 of Boscobel, passed away on Thursday August 26, 2021 at Gundersen Health Care in Boscobel. He was born February 9, 1927 in Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin. The son of Albert and Clara (Estenson) Kjos. He married Dorothy Elliott on October 22, 1949 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2002.

Vernon served as a drill sergeant in WWII where he received recognition for his "Outstanding Conduct of Training" accommodation from the Brigadier General. He went on to be a heavy equipment operator and proud member of Local 139 for over 50 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed going for rides, socializing, dancing, watching baseball and softball, tractor pulls, bike rides, working on cars, and operating a bulldozer. He embraced his Norwegian heritage, sharing words and old stories, going to lutefisk feeds, and making rosettes. He had many friends around Boscobel including the local Amish community and anybody he just met. Each year, he threw an annual birthday bash, inviting any and all to come join for a ham sandwich and a dance to the Monty Berger Band.

He is survived by his Children, Gary (Sharon) Kjos, Vickie (Brad) Wetter, Jeff (Lori) Kjos, Clarice Winter, and Tom (Deb) Kjos of Boscobel, and Rita (Tom) Sanger of Coon Valley; 15 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter; 3 sisters, Beverly Davis (Larry Balfany) and Delores Osweiler of Onalaska, and Audrey Wedwick of New Brighton MN; Sister-in-Law Laura Elliott of Boscobel; and wonderful companion of 18 years, Katie Klaas of Fennimore.

He was preceded in death by his Wife Dorothy Kjos; a Daughter Sonja Alexander; Son-in-Law Frank Winter Sr; his Great-Grandson Jordan Faulkner; 3 brothers, Paul, Alf, and Richard Kjos; 6 sisters, Marian Kjos, Adeline Tenneson, Maxine Vick, Margaret Blyler, Dorothy Every, and Carol O'Brien.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 4, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at the Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial in the Boscobel Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday September 4, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the Blake-Semrad American Legion Post #134 and Gilbertson- Pitzer- Radley VFW Post # 10393 both of Boscobel.
