Charles Lowry Hudgens , 71, of 2617 Bomar a retired building contractor died in a hospital Wednesday afternoon after a short illness. Hudgens a resident of Fort Worth since 1905 was building contractor on several business buildings and churches here including the Lone Star Gas Company office building at 908 Monroe Polytechnic Baptist Sunday school building and the Broadway Baptist Sunday school building. He also built Baptist churches in Beaumont and Port Arthur. He retired as a contractor 10 years ago and until three years ago served as a construction supervisor for other contractors

Hudgens was born in Sparta Tenn Survivors are his wife. two sons Charles E and Hunter P Hudgens of Fort Worth, three daughters Mrs L L Jennings of Irving Mrs Warren Gochenour of St Paul Minn and Mrs H B Macmoy of Eastland, four sisters Mrs A B Miller of Fort Worth Mrs Will Proctor of Winters Mrs W A Bankston of Kilgore and Mrs Walter Stewart of Simonton, four brothers M C Hudgens of Handley Hershel Hudgens of Simonton Harold Hudgens of Adamsville and Haskell P Hudgens of Houston and seven grandchildren.
