Melissa Brumfield was a daughter of John W. and Cinderella Lanier Brumfield She was a granddaughter of John B. and Margaret Kelly Brumfield, Sr., a Revolutionary War Veteran who settled in Washington Parish Louisiana.

John R Burch, Jr wife Melissa Brumfield (1843-1923). She was a daughter of John W Brumfield and a granddaughter of Ezekiel Brumfield who died at Camp Morgan (near Madisonville) during the Battle of New Orleans Campaign in winter of 1814-1815. She was a great granddaughter of John Brumfield , Sr, a Revolutionary war Veteran who settled in Washington Parish.

Melissa L.S. Brumfield 1846-1923 and John Richard Burch 1832-1914 married April 25, 1823. Bible of their daughter Rosa A Burch and Joseph Benjamin Alford of Mt Herman, La. Present owner, Mrs Tate M Magee (granddaughter Myrtha Alford) Submitted to the society by Miss Texana Carter, Franklinton, La.
