Darien – Carl Edward Deal, better known as "Brother Ed" and "Papa Ed", was born July 18, 1945, and adopted by his loving parents, Sula and Columbus Deal, when 6 months old. Though not raised by his biological family, he always knew his biological siblings and cared for them deeply. Ed grew up in McIntosh and Glynn counties and was a 1963 graduate of Glynn Academy. Ed owned and operated his successful car business, Ed Deal's Used Cars, for 46 years before retiring this year. Ed was a member of Darien Church of God for over 30 years where he acted as Sunday School superintendent, tirelessly and lovingly picking up several generations of children for Sunday School for many years. He also acted as Santa Claus and Fall Festival auctioneer for several years. In his business, personal life, and church life, he continuously blessed people with his generous spirit and kind heart. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Norma Penrow, Carol Hoffman, and Robert Whitmore, along with multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvonne Deal, children, Angie (Darrell) Owens, Danny Deal, and Sandy Howard; grandchildren, Megan Hutchinson, Aaron Deal, Dillon Howard, Carly Howard, Chloe Rowe, Daniel Deal, and Devin Deal; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Hutchinson, Blayne Hutchinson, Brayden Hutchinson, Kadence Hutchinson, and Emery Howard; siblings, Shirley (Larry) Smiley, Justine Smith, and Edward Karminer; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ed departed this earth for his Heavenly home on August 26, 2021, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. He could be described in many ways – dependable, kind, sweet, funny, hard-working, bossy, hard-headed, stubborn, generous, and loving, to just name a few. Overall, his family best describes him as unforgettable.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, September 4, at 11 AM at Darien Church of God with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church.
