Henry Lee Butler, 89, of Camden, AR, passed away on August 23, 2021 at Somerset Senior Living at Pine Hills.

He was born on December 19, 1931 in Camden, Arkansas.

Henry united with the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age and remained an active member until his health failed. Henry was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Upon graduation, he attended A M and N College in Pine Bluff, AR. He left Pine Bluff to serve his country in the United States Navy.

He always took pride in providing for his family and trying to lead by being a positive example. He was a certified truck driver. He worked at Ritchie Grocery Company with his father and brother Olen Butler. Harry Lindsey Poultry Company, the Ice House, and the City of Camden. He worked there for years. He often recommended others for employment and encouraged workers to get their CDL and seek promotions. He retired at the age of 81.

As a young man, Henry realized that God had work for him to do. He decided not to take on the family business because that was not God's plan for him. He has served in various capacities in the church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, usher where he has served as the President of the Usher Board and President of the City-Wide Usher Association. At St. Paul he has served on a number of committees.

He has always had a passion for taking care of his family. He helped to provide care for his parents, in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Henry felt that if he had anything, he would share something with someone who was in need.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Susan Braggs-Butler; five children: Barbara Ann Butler-Fluker, Shara Butler, Debroah Butler, Lawrence Butler, and Daryl Butler; his parents, Lizzie Mitchell Butler and Dannie Butler; and three brothers: Lloyd Butler, Ozzie Butler (Flossie Mae), and Olan Butler (Earnesteen).

He is survived by two daughters, Leah Butler-Biley (Michael) West Monroe, Louisiana and Dorris Lynn Bowens (Chicago, Illinois); ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID, services will be private in the chapel in Proctor Funeral Home. To view the service via Zoom follow link provided. The burial services will be held at Eternal Rest Cemetery.
