Walter Lambuth Baskette's mother was Matilda "Tilla" Keiser DuVal, sixth daughter of Alexander De La Plaunche (1793-1851) and Margaret Gwin DuVal (1800-63), who was born at White House, Sumner County, Tn. She lived in Nashville and was noted for her writings in prose and poetry. She married in 1854, Judge John Howard Baskette (1829-84), son of Dr. William Turner (1804-1867) and Mary W. Howard Baskette (1791-1841), of Midland, Tenn. He was an attorney, a member of the Tennessee legislature before 1854, and judge of the Davidson County (Tenn.) Court for twenty years. He was a founder of the West End Methodist Church in Nashville and was a colonel in the 68th regiment of Tennessee militia during the civil war. He was a descendent of John Baskette, printer of the Oxford Edition of the King James version of the English Bible. Their ten children were Dr. William Howard (1855-1913), Claiborne Alexander (1858-1925), Margaret Gwin (1860-1946), John Henry (1862-1955), Robert E. Lee (1865-1942), Ernest DuVal (1869-1927), Marvin Young (1871-72), Col. Alvin Kelly (1873-1963), Tilla Grace (1875-), and Walter Lambuth Baskette (1878-1942).

Margaret Gwin Baskette (1860-1946) last lived in Richmond, Ky. She was author of The DuVal's of Kentucky from Virginia 1794-1935. She married in 1885, Rev. Charles Henry Buchanan (1858-1940), son of John Rice (1824-) and Mary Flood Bocock Buchanan (1824-). He was a Methodist minister in Texas, Virginia, Maryland, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Their children were John Henry (1886-87), Charles Gwin (1887-89), and Professor Pearl Leigh Buchanan (1893-1983) who was professor in the English and Speech Department at Eastern Kentucky University.

John Henry Baskette (1862-1955) last lived in Redondo Beach, Ca. In Nashville, Tn., he served two terms as city councilman. He married in 1889, Frances Moore Le Moyne (1862-1935). Their children were John Howard, II (1890-1979), Esther (1895-1977) and George Lemoyne Baskette (1897-1992).

Colonel Alvin Kelly Baskette (1873-1963)(dsp) lived in Baltimore. He was a career Army officer, 1898-1937, and served in France in WWI, 1918-19. He was 7th Corps area quartermaster in Omaha and 3rd Corps area quartermaster in Baltimore. He married (1) in 1895, Grace Mabel Flisher (1876-96), and (2) in 1905, Nelle Katherine Wilder (1878-1952), of Columbus, Ohio.
