Elliot Barney

Elliot Leon Barney, 88, Panguitch, and formerly of Richfield, died Oct. 16, 1984, at his home in Panguitch.

He was born March 9, 1896, Monroe, to Thomas Jefferson and Mary Martina Anderson Barney. He married Velma Sandin, Sept. 14, 1920, Panguitch; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

He was a veteran of World War I and had been employed in Richfield and Panguitch by Pearson and Crofts sawmill for 19 years. He drove bus in Garfield School District for 16 years.

He was a member of the Hatch LDS Ward bishopric for five years and served as Sunday School president of the Richfield First Ward for five years. He also held other church positions.

Survivors: wife, Panguitch; sons, daughters: Mrs. Frankl (Lola B.) Henrie, Elliot Miles, Mrs. George (Madalene) Middleton, Mrs. Claude (Susann) Hatch, all Panguitch; Vermon, Evanston, Wyo.; Blaine, Bountiful; 27 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild; sister, Mrs. Irene Pulsiper, Sun Valley Nev.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Panguitch Third Ward chapel. Friends may call at Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. and at the Panguitch Stake Center from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment with military rites by the Panguitch American Legion Post 25, will be in the Panguitch City Cemetery.
