Blaine L Barney
(June 22, 1935 - April 20, 2013)

Blaine L. Barney passed away peacefully on April 20, 2013.

He was born in Hatch, Utah on June 22, 1935 to Elliot L Barney and Velma Sandin Barney. He graduated from Richfield high school.

He married Kathleen Jensen in the Manti Temple on October 14, 1953 and they have been married an amazing 59 years.

Blaine began his career in 1956 with Western Airlines and survived seven corporate mergers. He eventually retired from Northwest Airlines as Regional Station Manager with a total of 34 years.

He was active in his industry and the community. He served as past president of the Cedar City Jaycees, former state director of the Utah Jaycees, and past president of the Salt Lake International Chapter of the Lion's Club. He served as chairman for both the Airline Manager Association and the ATA Security. He also valiantly served eight years in the Utah National Guard and held the rank of sergeant E-5. He was also awarded the title of Western Evacuation Committee person with a civilian military rank of Colonel.

Blaine was an exemplary husband, dad, brother, uncle, grandpa, great-grandpa, neighbor and friend and his presence will be sorely missed. Most importantly his handshake was his word and he definitely lived by "old school" values. Anyone that knew him would agree that you could always depend on him for anything, he cared about everybody and always wanted to make sure that nobody went without, even if at times it was considered "spoiling". He didn't care, he thoroughly enjoyed it. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting and created special memories that will be remembered forever by his family. His favorite places where he was truly happy were Fish Lake and our family Deer Camp in Panguitch, Utah.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons; Kevin (Ellen ), Paul(Toni), daughter Diane Barney, son Daniel; brother Vermon (Catherine) Barney, sister Suzanne Hatch (Claude); 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, brother Miles Barney, sister Madeline Middleton (George) and sister Lola Henrie (Frank).

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday April 26, 2013 at the Val Verda 5th Ward 2633 S. 50 W. Bountiful where friends may visit with family from 12:00-1:45pm prior to services. Services under the direction of Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary.
