Willie Chavis Scott, 87, of Lumberton, NC passed away on August 21, 2021, at UNC Health Southeastern.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 17, 1934.

Willie was a faithful and loyal life time member of the Smyrna Baptist Church where he served on many committees. He also loved his community and church family and faithfully visited the sick and shut in.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Belton Chavis and Cora Lee Scott; his first wife, Mamie Scott; his second wife, Jewell Scott; and a son, Anthony Lee Chavis.

Willie is survived by his two sons, Willie Thomas Chavis and wife Margaret of Rowland and Junior Jones and wife Bridget of Fairmont; two daughters, Carol Jones and husband Peedee of Pembroke and Sandy Jones of Fayetteville; four brothers: Belton L. Chavis and wife Janet, Charles R. Chavis, James E. Chavis, and Howard Chavis and wife Barbara all of Laurinburg; two sisters, Catherine Chavis Deberry and husband Terry and Ann Taylor and husband William all of Laurinburg; a sister-in-law, Cora Wedmer; twelve grandchildren: Brock Chavis, John Edward Jacobs, Scottie Lee Jacobs, James Anthony Jacobs, Shawn Lex Jacobs, Lynda Lee Brooks, Ynez Cheyenne Brooks, Tiffany Smith, Christopher Locklear and wife Tabatha, Justin Locklear and wife Lizzie, Branjer Jones, and Brooke Jones; sixteen great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Lillian Lewis of Lumberton.

The funeral services will be held in Smyrna Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Pevia and Rev. Roosevelt Scott officiating. The internment services will be held at the Robeson Memorial Park.
