February 22, 1933 ~ August 9, 2021 (age 88)

Martha (Marti) Moore Austin, 88, of Tiffin, joined her Heavenly Father August 9, 2021 at Tiffin Mercy with family at her bedside.

Marti was born on February 22, 1933 in Elyria, Ohio to Robert & Lillian (Jones) Moore. She married James Lee Austin on October 1, 1960.

Survivors include: daughter, Lauren (John D.) Austin-Smith, of Tiffin; son, J. Jonathan (Cynthia) Austin of Snellville, Georgia; 7 grandchildren: Taylor Bloom, Amber (Jeremy) Weininger, Stephanie (Tyler) Smith, Jasher (Kelli), Jadon (Dani), Zion (Emma), and Gracyn Austin. She was also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren, Avyn, Briella, Brecken & Tristan. Selflessly serving Marti over the decades, Dennis "Chief" & Bunny Joseph & Bob Bordner have become family. She treasured her family and loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Gwen Duff.

Marti graduated from Lakewood High School in 1951 and later attended Muskingham College. As an Administrative Assistant she worked on the highest office floor of the Empire State Building and held that position with various businesses, her favorite being her time spent with Focht Brothers in Tiffin. She was also a Real Estate Agent with Jim Wilson Realty.

Marti and her husband, Jim, met in NYC. They performed many times together throughout their marriage with Jim directing and playing piano and Marti on stage. They also performed weekend evenings at the Riverview Inn with Marti's powerful voice singing standards with Jim at the piano. They later performed as the host and hostess at the Hayes Presidential Center's annual Christmas dinner portraying the president and his wife for over a decade.

In addition to music and theatre, Marti loved sports! She was a big fan of the Cleveland teams and an avid follower of Heidelberg Football and basketball. She adored animals and watching them from her kitchen window. Marti was "The Hostess with the Mostes'," and was in her element when attending a good party and entertaining others! She was a proud member of P.E.O. and a founding member of the Heidelberg Gourmet Club and Advisor/Honorary to the Philalethean Society at Heidelberg University. She truly loved her association with Heidelberg!

"Marti's Final Party," a Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Heidelberg University in the Wickham Great Hall with Rev. Dr. Paul Stark officiating. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the James Lee Austin Scholarship fund.
