Pansy was born at home in Johnston County, NC. She was the wife of the late Sherwood Benson and the daughter of Worth Jones and Nina Pearl Barbour Jones, both deceased.
She worked as a sewer for many years and retired from CULP fabrics. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Burlington.
She is survived by a son, James "Jim" Lindsay Clemmons and his wife Marlene of Albemarle, NC; daughter, Joy Clemmons Joyner and her husband Rev. Steve Joyner of Burlington; step-daughter, Deborah Thayer of Four Oaks; step-son, Richard Benson of Dublin, Ga.; grandchildren, Valerie Amos and her husband Marc, Steven Mitchell of Graham, Gregory Mitchell of Raleigh, Stephanie Joyner and her partner Jeremy Shoffner of Liberty, Megan and her husband Lance Tennant, Adam Thayer; great grandchildren, Lorelei, Annabelle, Ian, Katie, Brittany, Zach, Waylon, Lily, Caleb, Kelly, Coalton, and Klover; and her sister, Ann Andrews of Clayton.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Jones and his wife Joanie, Marjorie Messer and her husband Floyd, and Troy Jones and his wife Shirley.
A funeral service will be held in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm with the family receiving friends from 12:oo noon until 12:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
