Lucy Hennetta Jaeger, daughter of William and Louisa Jaeger, married John William Hoch on October 6, 1909 in DeWitt Co, TX. The Pastor of Hochheim Baptist Church married them, and the witnesses were John William's brother, Emil Hoch and Lucy's father, William Jaeger. They lived at Rural Route 4, Yoakum. She had lived there 30 years at the time of her death. Grandma Lucy was 52 years and 11 months old when she died.

John and Lucy had 4 known children
1. Forest William Hoch (1910-1966)
2. Charles Floyd "Floyd" Hoch (1911-1995)
3. Troy Tharston Hoch (1917-2014)
4. John Junior Hoch (1923-1994)

Lucy was a only 52 years old when she died as the sun rose on the morning of June 7, 1943. Her son Troy tells, she took really sick the day before, so Dad sent for Uncle Martin Hoch, who was a doctor, but their was nothing he could do for her. They really did not know what was wrong, but Uncle Martin suspected kidney disease.

Lucy was a remarkable women, her sons worshipped her. She was really close to her sisters, Lota & Gladys and visited with them often. Lucy always cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for her family and both her sisters families. She would not allow them to bring anything. She cooked a turkey and ham big enough for all, and all the trimmings.

Your youngest son, John Jr was in the Aleution Islands,in the Navy, and it was several months after her death before he was notified. Her second son, Floyd, serving in the Army was close enough to come home for her funeral.

As Troy tells it, Mom did not like to have her picture taken. So the family does not have one picture of her, so I have posted a picture of her four boys, that she loved so dearly and their families.

We always thought Grandma Lucy was just Lucy, but I have came across an old family group sheet that has her name as Henrietta.
