Mrs. Artigue was a native of Leonville and long-time resident of Port Barre.
She died at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in her home.
She truly enjoyed playing Pokeno with her many friends, also enjoyed traveling, being with her family and belonging to the Council on Aging in Port Barre. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two sons: William Dale Artigue and wife, Brenda of Port Barre; and John Howard Artigue and wife, Jane of LaPlace; two daughters: Verna Artigue Fontenot and husband, George of Plaisance; and Laura Artigue Albrecht and husband, Frank of Port Barre; one brother, Elvin "Tee" Benoit of Opelousas; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Artigue was preceded in death by her husband, Mornington Artigue; two sons: Fred Lee Artigue and Raymond Artigue; three brothers: Victor Benoit, Murphy Benoit, and Ira Benoit.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre.
