Melvin Young was born on June 3, 1960 to Brownie Mae Young and John L Jones in Newark, NJ.
Melvin attended the Newark Public Schools while learning electrical device repair. He would use the money he made from these jobs to indulge his love of canvas painting, guitar, and going to the theater. He also loved to sing and would always be in impressed by his own ability to hit those high notes.
Melvin loved to work and couldn't wait to finish school so he could dive into it full time. He worked various jobs throughout his life, including the chemical field, and as a forklift operator until finally ending a stretch of over 10 years as a freight handler at Macy's Department Store.
Melvin was overjoyed when he became the father of 2 children, Linadelle and Melvin Jr. Young. He was a loving and generous father who always cared about the well-being of his children.
Melvin departed this life on July 11, 2021. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved to laugh and play jokes. His fun-loving and lighthearted nature was a gift to all and he will be truly missed.
Melvin was preceded in death by his sister Gwendolyn Young and niece Shakeerah Young. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Linadelle and Melvin Jr.; his mother, Brownie Mae Young; his siblings, Sandra, Elizabeth, Allen, Johnny, Patricia, Teretha and Alexander Young; his grandchildren, Kaniyah, Miranda, Tyler, Ava and Madisyn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
