Glenda Owens Banner, age 80, of Newland, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her husband and her daughter on Monday, April 29th, 2019 at Cannon Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.

A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Mabel Buchanan Owens.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Banner and a daughter, Angela Killion.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Newland. Glenda was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and her pleasure in life was doing kind deeds for her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Denise Henson and husband, Rick; a grandson, David Killion and wife, Autumn; son-in-law, Roger Killion all of Newland; sisters: Lorena McKee and Billie Trice both also of Newland and special friend and caregiver, Phyllis Mottern. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 2nd in the Church of Jesus Christ Newland. Rev. Dave Atkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ Newland Cemetery.
