Dorothy Jean Best, 78, of Springfield died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 18, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of Ralph A. and Elizabeth Scheppman May.
Mrs. Best, a resident of Springfield most of her life, worked as a secretary for Church of the Little Flower for 33 years. She was a member of Church of the Little Flower, where she had been a board member of the Little Flower School Scholarship Fund and was a member of South Side Senior Card Group.
Survivors: a brother, Ralph J. May of Springfield; a sister, Mary Lewis of Springfield; five nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Concelebrated Funeral Mass: Church of the Little Flower. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
