Paul Wayne Johnston

Paul Wayne Johnston was born to Martha and Clarence Johnston in Evanston, Wyo. on Aug. 26, 1936. He passed away on Aug. 12, 2021. He was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Evanston.

He joined the Navy on June 25, 1954 and received an honorable discharge on Aug. 23, 1957. He married Betty Jean Simmons on Nov. 3, 1955 at the home of his parents in Evanston. They later were sealed together and to their seven children on Nov. 3, 1977 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They lived in Key West, Fla. for a short time where he was stationed in the Navy. They resided in Evanston until the summer of 1962 when they moved to Rock Springs and have resided here since.

He had various jobs over the years. He loved being a mechanic and working on cars and anything else with wheels. His main interest was classic cars of which he owned a 1954 Chevy Bel Air. He was member of the Sashay Partners, and they square danced for 25 years. He has also been a member of CB club. He loved snowmobiling, waterskiing, camping and woodworking. He continued doing woodworking until his eyesight began failing. He also loved talking and visiting with everyone and found friends everywhere.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, sisters and one great-grandson.

He is survived by his loving wifem Betty and his seven children, Teresa (Mike) Helm, Pauline (Mark) Carpenter, Eugene (Rhonda) Johnston, Bonnie (Joe) Butler, Tammy Petersen, Don (Rachel) Johnston and Tony (Laurie) Johnston. He also has 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2055 Edgar St., Rock Springs, WY.
There will be a viewing 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 at Fox Funeral Home,
2800 Commercial Way, Rock Springs and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Military jonors and interment will take place at the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
