He was born on February 16, 1935 to the late Bill and Mary Louise (Cowger) Fields. William was raised in Round Grove and graduated from Pine Township High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army. William worked and retired from Anheuser Busch and A.E. Staley (Tate and Lyle) after 30 years of service.
William loved his family gatherings, woodworking, gardening, racing, Florida vacations, IU basketball and making people laugh. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Miller) Fields; four children; former wife, Linda (Oberlander) Fields; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. William was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Fields and Dean Fields.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Vale Cemetery.
