American Actor and Author. Born Alexander Viespi Jr., he will best be remembered for his work on the CBS television series 'Airwolf,' starring alongside Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine, which ran between 1984-86 for 55 episodes. After being confined to a hospital and an iron lung in much of his youth, Cord eventually pursued a dream of becoming a professional horseman and joined a rodeo circuit at age 16. After suffering an injury while performing at Madison Square Garden, he switched to acting and studied at the Actors Studio. After working in theater in both St. Louis and in London, he relocated to Hollywood and found that his background in rodeo gave him an advantage in television Westerns and action series such as 'Laramie,' 'Naked City,' 'Route 66' as well as remakes of films 'Stagecoach' and 'Grayeagle,' which was a remake of John Wayne's 'The Searchers.' Other film and TV credits include 'Mission: Impossible,' 'Walker, Texas Ranger,' 'Fantasy Island' and many more. Late in his life, he continued his competitive rodeo riding with charity work and benefits for the Ben Johnson Pro-Celebrity Rodeos and others. He was also the author of several novels, 'A Feather in the Rain,' 'Days of the Harbinger,' 'The Man Who Would Be God' and 'High Moon.'
