Curtis R. "Smitty" Smith Sr., 88, passed away unexpectedly in Green Bay, WI. He was born January 22, 1933 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Marjorie (nee Dean) and Leo Smith.

On September 18, 1954, Curtis married the love of his life, Arlette Mae Young in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a young man, Curtis owned his own service station in Milwaukee, he then traveled throughout Wisconsin for a company which serviced medical equipment and retired after more than 20 years as a Mercury Marine Master Mechanic. "Smitty" moved his family to Oshkosh in 1978 to follow his passion for mechanics and worked for Lakeside Marina, Fox River Marina, and Sweetwater Performance Center – Marina.

Curtis loved pleasure boating, he took his wife and three young sons on many, many boating adventures where he passed on his love of the water. The number of how many boats he has had is lost but each of them has its own story. Curtis is known by many to be Mr. Fix It, from woodworking to any type of mechanical or engine work, he could fix it. Most who knew him well have said "If Curtis couldn't fix it, then throw it out. It's broken." "Pa" as he was affectionally known by all, enjoyed camping with his family at Castle Rock Campground in Adams County. The annual camping trip evolved to the Smith Family Reunion which includes lots of water antics like the wooden surfboard and zip sled, as well as amazing family campfires and an established tradition that will continue for generations to come. Curtis loved his family, and this sustained him for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlette Smith; brothers, Keith and Rodger Smith; sisters, Shirley Matschull, and Judy Wildgern; brother-in-law, James (Sandy) Young Jr.; sons, Kevin (Julie) Smith, Craig (Wendy) Smith; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smith; grandchildren, Dana (Jason) Craig, Carly (Tim) McCormack, Danny (Ashlee) Longsine, Chad (Katie) Smith, Amy Smith, Matt Smith, Meghan (Cody) Kopplin, Preston Smith, and Abigail Smith; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many special friends and neighbors.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marjorie Smith; siblings, Donald Smith, and Nancy Nowak; and his son, Curtis Smith Jr.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, WI with a time for sharing memories from 3pm until the time of service at 4:30pm. Inurnment will follow services.
