Erik, son of Christena and Christian Petersen, was born October 19, 1865 at Lykken, Denmark and died Thursday morning November 15, 1956 at the Salem Home at Elk Horn at the age of 91 years and 26 days.
He came to this country at the age of 17, and worked as a farm hand near Harlan for three years, after which he settled on a farm northwest of Kimballton.
He married Barolena Mogensen October 10, 1889. They farmed five miles northwest of Kimballton until 1936 when they retired and moved to Poplar.
He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist church.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs Harriet Petersen of Harlan, Mrs Sarah Petersen of Kimballton and Mrs Lillie Rasmussen of Harlan, four sons, Henry of Kimballton, Elmer of Burbank, California, Dan of Kimballton and Silvanus of Sunaland, California, 23 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, a sister, Katie Thysen of Audubon, and two brothers, Spurgeon of Austin, Minn., and David of Albert Lee, Minn. His wife, two sons, two sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death.
Services were held November 19, at the Salem Home Chapel at Elk Horn with Pastor Earl M. Cleek officiating.
Burial was in Jacksonville cemetery.
