Floyd Herman Leatherman, 89, of Hickory passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Trinity Village in Hickory.

He was born December 28, 1928 in Catawba County to the late Austin and Georgia Heavner Leatherman. Floyd was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton and owner/operator of Leatherman Inc. from 1951 until retirement at age 80.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Revonda Gardin Leatherman; brother, Junior Leatherman; sisters, Lottie Johnson and Betty Dills; brother-in-law, Farrell Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are;

Sons: F. Allen Leatherman and wife Doris of Vale
Eric Leatherman and wife Audrey of Vale

Daughter: Vickie Matthews of Vale

Step-Son: Lowell Robinson of Newton

Step-Daughter: Donnalene Brown of Newton

Brother: Marvin Leatherman of Vale

Sisters: Rachel Parlier and husband Louis of Maiden
Edith Sigmon and husband Clinton (Jimmy) of Newton

Grandchildren: Allison Leatherman (Mark), Aaron Leatherman, Alise Sutton (Mark), Steven Matthews (Melissa), Brian Matthews (Jill), Erica McKelvey (Derrill) and Brandy Hedgepath

Great-Grandchildren: Alex, Paxton and Mikie Sutton; Colin, Bridget, Sylvie, Jackson, Lauren Matthews; Sammy McKelvey; Bonnie-Lynn, Kammie, Gladden, McKenzie and Savannah Hedgepath

A service to celebrate Floyd's life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Newton. Rev. Gil Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.
