Barbara passed away peacefully at her home in Colusa, CA, at the age of 90 on Monday, July 19th, 2021. Barbara was born on December 31, 1930, to James and Gean (Lent) Holcomb in a tent outside of Cottage Grove, OR. She was one of seven children. The family lived on the Oregon Coast for the majority of her childhood while her Dad served in the US Coast Guard.

The family moved to Lookout, CA, Barbara's freshman year of high school. There she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Jim Wayman. Jim and Barbara were married January 6, 1949, in Klamath Falls, OR. For the next 20 years they made their home in Adin, CA, and at Jim's grandfather's (Floyd E. Walker) ranch.

In addition to raising their four children, their home was always open to extended family, friends and anyone needing a helping hand. They moved to Arbuckle, CA, in 1968, where Jim passed away in 1987. Barbara later sold their family home and moved to Colusa, CA, where she lived for the past 17 years.

During her high school years Barbara worked for several local ranch families caring for the younger children or helping cook for the ranch hands. This helped prepare her for her future life as a rancher's wife. She was a terrific wife, mom and homemaker, and when needed, an extra ranch hand, and deer hunting companion.

At times she also worked at the local restaurant, Chase's Market, seamstress and neighbor's childcare. If someone needed help, she was there. She was an active supporter of the local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and Providence 4-H. She was a member of the Adin Community Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.

After the family moved to Arbuckle in 1969, she worked at various jobs, with the most years at the Arbuckle Food Center and Bank of America, where she retired in 1987. She attended the Arbuckle Baptist Church and sang in the Community Choir. During these years she loved to host family dinners, attend her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and assist with school events. Her hobbies were baking, sewing, crocheting and playing the piano. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews and her annual visit to the family cabin outside of Adin. She often shared her love for the Lord and how thankful she was for her faith.

She is survived by her children, Kay Armstrong, Tom Wayman (Grace), Don Wayman (Margo) and Myra Leber (Jason); 12 grandchildren, Wendy MacKaben (Randy), Michael Armstrong (Melani), Chuck Wayman (Jennifer), Kristin Davis (Tom), Leora Castillo (Chris), Alycen Wayman, Whitney Wayman, Kiley Barajas (Eddie), Jenna Wayman, Kolby Leber, Alex Wayman (Danielle) Kent Leber; 2 step-grandchildren,Christina Locvich and Cassie Kellner (David); 29 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Janice Holcomb and Mardell Cannon (Elton); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and was loved by all.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Jim Wayman; her parents, Jim and Gean Holcomb; her brothers, Jim, Chuck, Calvin and Gordon Holcomb; and her sisters, Myra Sorensen and Betty Leventon.

Memorial donations may be directed to Arbuckle Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 727, Arbuckle, CA 95912 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
