Obituary
Our beloved mother and "Granny" Norma Jean Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Tuesday, August 3, 2021 due to congestive heart failure.
Born on April 10, 1932, to Alfred Grein Kunz and Rosa Knowles. She met her husband, Ray Rawlins Johnson, (deceased 1987) at the Elite Dance Hall in Hyrum, Utah at the midnight Christmas dance in 1950. They married for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on September 17, 1951. They began their life together serving in Alaska during the Korean War where they made many life-long friends, especially the Cretsinger and Boudreaux families.
She was a cosmetologist prior to marriage and kept her license active throughout her life. Dad & her together built and ran many businesses including a carhop drive-in called "Big Ray's," Sunshine Floral Shop, Snow White Daycare & Reception Center, Gay-Sha-Lor Plaza & Apartments and several residential subdivisions. She also catered and hosted many weddings and parties in their dream home.
Our mother is a matriarch and carried a deep love of the Lord and gospel as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings over the years and loved serving her church history mission.
She had a big heart and her greatest gift was service and compassion for her family, friends, ward members and anyone in need. Her door was always open with a seat at her table and a bed in her house. If you received one of her grand dinners, a dessert, or a box of her homemade hand dipped chocolates you could always taste the love! She also spent many years making baby blankets for her ward members and quilts for PJ's Forgotten Children.
Her legacy leaves behind her six children: Gaylene Johnson, Randy (Laura) Johnson, Lori (LJ) Williams, Ricky Johnson, Sherrie Miller, Ryan (Lori) Johnson, and twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Ray Rawlins Johnson, grandson, Sgt. Derek Johnson, her parents, siblings, and many dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held at the LDS Ward House located at 11626 S 300 E, Draper, Utah on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 11 AM. Viewings will be held at the same location on Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 6 PM-8 PM and Friday, August 13, 2021, from 10 AM-11 AM. Interment will be at the Paradise Cemetery.
