Mary Ann Newman Combs was a devoted daughter, loving wife, caring mom, grandmother, sister, and friend. She went to be with her Lord and was finally reunited with Jim, the love of her life, on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

She married Jim Combs in 1963.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Jim, her parents, Bill and Laura Newman, her sisters, Opal, Alma, and Vera, and brothers, Swanson, Donald, and Olen.
Surviving to carry on her memory are her son, Michael Scott Combs (Julie), daughter, Scarlett Combs McKenzie (Keith), grandsons, Parker Combs and Michael Combs, and one sister, Debbie McCraw (Robbie). She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, her church family, beauty shop family, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Moore and pastor Mark Mayes officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 9, 2021, at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Chapel Baptist Church, 1559 Max Lane, Galax, VA for use in its youth activities and ministries. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel is serving the family.
