Gladys J. Thomas, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 10, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic. A luncheon will be served following the services. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Lewis, Iowa.

Gladys Jane Christensen was born April 28, 1941, in Atlantic, the daughter of Alfred and Rosie (Harmsen) Christensen. She attended Atlantic schools and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. She married Eric E. Wester on August 24, 1958, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. They were the parents of Rodney, Linda and Brenda. Eric preceded her in death on November 4, 1984.

She married James H. Thomas on April 12, 1991, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. James preceded her in death on January 4, 2018. She worked as a waitress for a few years, then worked at Waltons, Ebcore and Beaudines. She later work for Glacier Vandervell for 27 years, then started working as Camp Host at Lake Anita State Park for eight years.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Brett) Fay and Brenda Buboltz; one step-daughter, Kerri (Jayson) Waller; two step-sons, Greg (Marsha) Thomas and Rodney Thomas; four grandchildren, Bradly Claussen, Josh Larsen, Steven Fay and Jennifer Claussen; three step-grandchildren, Jake (Jessica) Thomas, Trenton Waller and Haily Waller; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, Millie and Kasen; one step-great-granddaughter, Clair Thomas and one sister-in-law, Mary Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Robert Dietz, one son, Rodney Wester, one granddaughter, Ashly Ann Fay, one grandson, Brian Eric Claussen, one great-granddaughter, Payton Rose, one brother, Roger Christensen, one brother-in-law, Kenneth Wester, six sisters-in-law, Helen Russell, Fay Smith, Maxine Carroll, Lucille Yoakum, Dorothy Riley and June Nickolish and seven brothers-in-law, Richard Thomas, Printess Russell, Merle Smith, Ron Carroll, Paul Yoakum, Rudy Nickolish and Clarence Rile.
