Elva Bertha (Breeding) Schlegel of Hickman, near Denton, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. She was 92 years old.

Elva was born at home in Hickman on November 30, 1928. She was the youngest child of the late William H Breeding and Bertha (Brown) Breeding. She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) Schlegel, her granddaughter, Laura Schlegel, and her grandson, Christopher Corkell as well as her 4 siblings and their spouses: Floyd Breeding and his wife Anna Mae, Lelia Fluharty and her husband Charles, Emory Breeding and his wife Helen, and Otis E. Breeding and his wife Mary Ellen. Elva is survived by three daughters; Brenda Schlegel (Gary), Cindy Boczon, and Karen Clendaniel, as well as one son, Gary Schlegel; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Elva lived in the area all of her life and graduated in 1944 from Caroline High School in Denton. Elva enjoyed spending time with family, reading, crocheting, putting puzzles together and hosting countless Sunday dinners with her delicious home style cooking.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug 7th , from 10:00 until 11:30 am at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton. The services will be private.
