Marie Dockins Porterfield, daughter of the late Willie Lorne Dockins and Ora Lee Yancey Dockins, was born November 25, 1933 in Viola, Arkansas. She departed this life August 3, 2021 at her home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Alan David Porterfield and together they raised five daughters. Marie spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, homemaker and friend. She was of the Baptist faith.
Marie is survived by four daughters: Charlotte Hutson of Bethesda, Deloris Gray of Melbourne, Jequita Crider and husband Jesse of Melbourne and Vicki Burge and husband Max of Cave City; five brothers: Bennie Dockins of Washington, Velman Dockins and Norman Dockins both of Independence, Missouri, Karry Dockins of Oxford and Larry Dockins of Brockwell; three sisters: Merle Allen and Ann Hellums both of Missouri and June Dickerson of Brockwell; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one son-in-law: Billy Rex Sanders of Dolph and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter: Gaile Marie Sanders; three brothers and one sister.
Graveside funeral service will be Thursday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Ron Helm officiating. Funeral arrangements by Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
