Jonathan Grix was born at Marsham, Norfolk, England, November 14,1823, to John and Mary Blake Grix. He married Sarah Florence on April 25, 1851. He emigrated to Utah September 20, 1869 on the ship Manhatten and arrived in Ogden, October 16, 1869. He lived there until his death. After settling in Ogden he established a dry goods and notion business and carried it on with his son Lamoni, for many years. On October 19, 1915 Jonathan was accidently killed by his neighbor, when the neighbor was backing his car out of the garage and hit him, unseen by the neighbor.
