Donald J. Shaw died in Tigard Monday, July 26, 2021.
Don was born in Tillamook to Ford and Mary Shaw and grew up there, graduating from Tillamook Catholic High School. He began his career with First National/First Interstate Bank of Oregon in 1948. His hard work in the Tillamook and Tigard bank branches led to success in Regional Bank Management, overseeing dozens of branches. He retired in 1988 as a Regional Vice President, and a Senior Vice President for the bank.
Don enjoyed a rich family life. He married Sylvia Langfeldt in 1973, bringing children and grandchildren to his life. Don's family also includes nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him and miss his quick wit, dry sense of humor and fun-loving personality.
Favorite hobbies included woodworking, gardening and playing cards and games.
Don is survived by his son-in-law, Bob Pingle (Cinda); daughter-in-law, Joanne Langfeldt; grandchildren, P.J. Pingle (Julie) and Katy Nieves (Rick); eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; sisters, Marita Baertlein and Eileen Baertlein; and stepchildren, Nancy Pingle and Ron Langfeldt.
Funeral Mass for Don is at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at St. Anthony Catholic Church 9905 S.W. McKenzie St., Tigard, OR 97223, with reception to follow at the church. Burial to follow service at St. Anthony Cemetery at S.W. 115th & Gaarde St., in Tigard.
