William is the second eldest son of James & Mary (Beard) Trotter. He came to Carroll county around 1833, bringing his mother with him and in company of other Cumberland county, Kentucky families. Married widow, Sarah (Ellis) Anderson.
The early clean photo of his marker was a restoration project undertaken in 1985 for the Trotter reunion. Since then has weathered and become worn once again.
