Larry Ross "Rocky" Stone, 82, passed away Tuesday evening, July 27, 2021 at his home in Montrose with his loving family and friends by his side.

As per his request, cremation rites have been accorded and no services will be held. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, at a later date.

Larry was born on November 13, 1938 in St. Louis, IL. He was one of nine children of Clarence and Lucinda (Stremming) Stone. He married the love of his life, Mary (Battle) Stone on December 18, 1999 and she passed away October 31, 2016.

Larry graduated Shelbyville High School in 1956. He joined the United States Navy in October of 1956 and served for 28 years before retiring. He lived in several different locations and finally settled in Montrose in 2002. Larry loved living in the country; sitting on his porch, playing cribbage and watching his dog, Cookie, play.

Larry is survived by his children, Michelle (John) Lewallen of Casper, WY and Michael (Chrissy) Stone of Murrietta, CA; grandchildren, Heather and Kiefer of Casper, WY; sisters, Fritzie (Larry) Nichols and Cindy (Bob) Morgan of Shelbyville; brothers, Jerry (Bev) Stone of Pana, Jack (Ginger) Stone of Washington and Earl (Cindy Moser) Stone of Georgetown, KY; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry's family would like to thank the Sarah Bush Lincoln Regional Cancer Center in Mattoon, Dr. Abdur Shakir and nurses, along with the support staff for all their medical care and cancer treatments.
