Jerry was a loving and lively man, and always had a story to tell. Jerry was a proud dedicated veteran having served in both The Alabama National Guard, and The United States Air Force and loved to tell stories of his adventures in the military. Upon returning to civilian life he dedicated 35 years with the Gadsden Steel Plant, and 8 years with Alabama Security and K9. Loyal to being a defender, protector, even well beyond his service years. Jerry loved to be the neighborhood "security" walking the neighborhood early in the morning with his favorite flashlight and wearing his security hat.
He is preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Emmit Butler, son Joseph Butler, grandson Jacob Butler, ;brothers Buddy and Bobby Butler; sisters Patsy Williamson, Peggy Lawes and Linda Faulkner.
