ASHTABULA – Zelda Levin Altman died at home on Thursday March 10, 2011.
She was born November 13, 1922 in Ashtabula to Bessie and Louis Levin. She was married for 39 years to Stanley Altman, who predeceased her in 1984, and together they established and operated Stan's Delicatessen on Main Street for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Nora, grandsons Steven and his wife
Paola, Jim Weller and his wife Sarah Gonzales, Rob Weller and his wife Larissa
Wilhelmi, and two great-grandsons, Caulin and Evan.
A life-long resident of Ashtabula, Zelda was named " Best of the County" in 2003 by the
Ashtabula County Growth Partnership in recognition of her many years of service to numerous local organizations including Zonta International, Women's Club of Ashtabula,
Ashtabula Arts Center, Salvation Army, Ashtabula County Medical Center, Ohio
Women's Service League, Tifereth Israel Congregation, Ashtabula County 503
Corporation and the American Cancer Society.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Zelda's memory may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Avenue, Ashtabula.
