Moses Bloch Passes Away
~~~•●The Well-Known Merchant Died Yesterday Morning●•~~~
At 7:15 o'clock yesterday morning occurred the death of Moses Bloch, one of the best-known residents of this city and county and for many years a leading clothing merchant.
Mr. Bloch's illness dates back some years. He suffered a paralytic stoke eleven years ago and since then has not been in good health. For a number of weeks, he has been very low.
The deceased was 77 years of age and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Gross, of Bloomsburg; Mrs. Benjamin Myers, of this city; also, two sons, Lewis and Samuel, both of this city.
Moses Bloch was born in Gratarishe, Alsace, [France], March 1, 1823. His boyhood days were spent in his native land, and in 1851 he came to this country and directly to Danville. Several years later he engaged in the clothing business and was well-known and had an immense country trade. His continued actively engaged in business until a few years ago. Politically Mr. Bloch was a Democrat and took an active part in politics.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and a number of other orders.
The funeral will occur on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Jewish cemetery.
