Lehi, UT—James Blake Whitehead, 90, passed away July 21, 2021. Born on March 13, 1931 in Culver City, CA to James Willis and Lillie Kammerman Whitehead. On June 24, 1952 Jim married Pauline Rees in the Mesa AZ Temple. They had 4 children: James Blake Jr, Randall Joe, Diane and Lynn. Jim was known for his love of family, his work ethic, and his ability to build or fix anything. His motto was, "Be honest and work hard." An avid mechanic from his youth, Jim and his band of childhood buddies loved midget and stock car racing. Jim's real passion was go-kart racing and he was grand national champion numerous times. After living in Los Angeles for many years he moved his family to Mansfield OH in 1968 to work with his dear friend and racing buddy, Mick Rupp. In 1974 the family moved to Salt Lake City UT where he was an award-winning service manager for Chevrolet. He and Pauline built their own beautiful home in Sandy UT where he ran his own dump truck and backhoe business. A highlight of their life was serving a mission to Adam-ondi-Ahman in 2003 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jim loved to restore vintage vehicles. His favorite was the navy blue '47 Ford pickup, which will take him for his final ride to the cemetery.
