Michele was born on September 12, 1962 to John "Jack" and Fern (Gehrke) Carroll in De Smet, South Dakota. She attended Washington Senior High and graduated class of 1980. She then pursued her passion for cosmetology and obtained her diploma from College of Hair Design in 1982. In 1983 Michele enlisted in the United States Navy. Her tour took her to many ports around the world including Hong Kong and the Philippines. In 1988 Michele left the Navy with an honorable discharge to raise her family. Michele received her Associates degree in Computer Science from Killian Community College in 2000. She continued her education and received her Bachelors Degree in Information Systems from Dakota State University in 2004.

Michele always had a passion for helping others and would prioritize their needs over her own. She was grateful for all the relationships she built throughout the years. She always enjoyed having long energetic conversations that were meaningful and brutally honest.

Michele's hobbies included reading romance and true crime novels many of which she re-read multiple times. Michele would take great pride with her arts and craft projects. She enjoyed making abstract art from wood and rocks that were gathered during outdoor adventures. She created unique pieces of art which were personalized for friends and family which would bring much joy. Being outdoors whether it was soaking up the sun while reading, hiking or camping brought her much tranquility.
