Doris M. Mitchell was called home to the Lord on July 21, 2021, at the age of 89.
Born on March 31st, 1932, to Martha and Lester Ohland. Doris graduated from Sutter Union High School with the class of 1950, where she met and later wed her high school sweetheart, George Mitchell, on September 6th, 1952. Doris and George had two sons: Michael and Perry Mitchell.
Doris retired as a counselor working with troubled teens in several school districts. Her listening ear, caring spirit, and encouragement helped change the path of many lives.
Throughout the years and in her spare time Doris was an avid knitter. She was a conservative and God-fearing patriot: donating time with the local chapter of the Tea Party. Doris had a passion to study the Bible, host bible studies, teach Sunday School, and journal her blessings in her bible "Praise be to God."
Doris was a great-grandbaby sitter extraordinaire, making homemade ice cream was a family favorite. She deeply loved God, her family, her church community, and her country. Doris was a bright light of love wherever she went, to know her was to love her.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Lester Ohland; her husband, George Mitchell; her sons, Michael and Perry Mitchell; and her brother, Lester Ohland.
She is survived by her sister, Betty (Daryl) Thompson; brother, Doug (Paula) Ohland; daughter-in-law, Linda Alvey; sister-in-law, Joanie Ohland; grandchildren, Marcella (Steve) Nakao, Sonja (James) Stone, and Kyle (Carlye) Mitchell; along with many nieces and nephews; and the true joys of her life 8 great-grandchildren Kendall, Jane, Justin, Claire, Jostyn, Hank, Trevor, and George.
A funeral service for Doris will be held 10am on Friday, August 6th, 2021, at Ullrey's Memorial Chapel in Yuba City. A graveside service at Sutter Cemetery and reception at The Bride Church in Yuba City will follow.
