Mr. L.S. Prater, age 66, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., passed away Nov. 4, 2007, in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1940, in Walton County to Clarence and Sadie Powell Prater. Mr. Prater was a resident of DeFuniak Springs. He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors.
Mr. Prater was preceded in death by his father and mother; three sisters, Mavis Llewlyen, Alice Wood and Shirley Jordan; and six brothers, Alvin, Cecil, Lewis, Pete, Roy, Waldo Prater.
Mr. Prater is survived by his one son, John Prater of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one daughter, Sherry Gordash of Kissimmee, Fla.; three brothers, Clarence L. Prater Jr. and wife Laura of Milton, Fla., Toby Prater and wife Karen, and Lamar Prater, all of DeFu-niak Springs; four sisters, Dorothy Palmer of DeFuniak Springs, Lillian Branch of Mulberry, Fla., Dianne Anderson and husband Hershel of Candler, N.C., and Brenda Hall and husband Rick of DeFuniak Springs; and three grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Glenn officiat-ing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Building Fund at the First Baptist Church of Liberty, 6775 U.S. Highway 331 North, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Michael Carroll, Kevin Prater, Donald Tucker, Tracey Jernigan, James Summerlin and Jimmy Summerlin.
Burial will follow in the Cluster Springs Cemetery.
