---Mary Louise Franks, 89, of Macon, MO, formerly Elmer, MO, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.
---Louise was born on December 25, 1931 in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Arthur and Lena (Perkins) Drake. Louise was a 1950 graduate of Elmer High School and then attended Northeast Missouri Teachers College for two years in Kirksville. For four years, Louise was manager of the typing pool at BMA in Kansas City, MO. She was united in marriage to Richard Franks on December 20, 1955 in Kansas City, MO. Louise worked as a school secretary for the school in Elmer, and after 27 years she retired. She was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church, where she played piano and taught Sunday School. She was also an auxiliary member of Gideon International since 1986.
---Louise was a fantastic cook, enjoyed reading, and loved visiting and talking on the phone with friends and neighbors. She and Richard enjoyed traveling to Arizona together and visiting Brazil to see their foreign exchange "daughter" Ingrid and her family. Louise enjoyed spending time with family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
---Louise is survived by two children, Robert Dale Franks and his wife Jefri of Parkville, MO, and Phyllis Ann Smoot of Atlanta, MO; two grandchildren, Donald Justus Smoot of Macon, MO, and Adam Daniel Smoot (Michele) of Hannibal, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Mason, Lukas, Elaina, Asher, and Emerson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Paul Epperson of Independence, MO; and other relatives and many friends.
---She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Justus Franks on April 12, 2017; two sisters; one son-in-law, Danny Smoot; one brother-in-law; and one infant sister.
---Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta, MO, with Bro. John Gorham officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Elmer Cemetery in Elmer, MO. Visitation will be Thursday morning at 9:00 am, until the time of the service, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Gideon International or Loch Haven Nursing Home.
