Marie Stroud Brooks, age 100, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Monday, July 19, 2021, at her home. She was born October 28, 1920, in Gurdon, the daughter of the late Willy Adam and Nettie Scroggins Stroud.
Marie was a 1939 graduate of Gurdon High School. She worked in sales for Sears during her career. Marie was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and cooking for her family in her free time.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Arthur Brooks, her brother, Tracy H. Stroud, and one sister in law, Muriel J. Stroud.
Survivors are her daughter and son in law, Janis Brooks Burnham (Wayne) of Arkadelphia, four grandchildren, Mike Burnham (Traci) of Benton, Leigh Edmondson (Rick) of Benton, Matt Burnham (Crystal) of Bismarck, and Mark Burnham (Jennifer) of Arkadelphia, ten great-grandchildren, Chase Burnham (Jane) of Springdale, Dylan Burnham of Benton, Jake Edmondson (Hannah) of Little Rock, Emme and Elly Edmondson of Benton, Brantley Jarrell (Sierra) of Sheridan, Carson Burnham of Bismarck, John Brooks Burnham, Josh Burnham, and Jack Burnham, one great-great-grandchild, Lyla Burnham, all of Arkadelphia.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating. Interment will be at Easley Cemetery.
