Thomas Gillies, 94, who for 23 years operated the Garfield Park grocery store, died today at his home, 316 Errett circle, after a long illness.
A native of Kilmarnock, Scotland, he travelled in several countries before coming to the United States from Willington, New Zealand.
He married Mrs. Dorothea Buckley in 1913. They lived in this community for about 45 years.
Besides his wife he is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Anna Winterhalder of Santa Cruz.
Private services will be conducted by Rev. Norman Snow at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Brenkwitz mortuary. Inurnment will be in the IOOF crematory.
