About 1902, 21-year old Lucy married 25-year old Paul McCabe, the son of Alexander McCabe and Mary Moore, who was the last McCabe of his family to remain in Tarboro.
Her husband was a printer in Tarboro, and would later manage the Colonial Theatre (ca. 1920) on Main Street, the first to theatre to show motion pictures in the area.
The couple would have 3 children, with only one surviving to adulthood: Mary E., Paul Jr, and M. E.
Lucy was widowed at age 46 when her husband died at age 50 in 1925. She remained a widow for the next 37 years, and supported herself taking in boarders and running a luncheonette in Tarboro.
Lucy passed in 1962, just about one month before her 74th birthday.
