Ray was a self-made businessman who started by hauling lime to the Amish. Later, he maintained a family excavating and grading business and ended his career trucking hazardous waste from Corning Asahi, retiring in 1995.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lisa, of rural Centre Hall, and a son, Ray A. "Chip" and his wife, Carol, of Pleasant Gap. He was "Pap" to Brian D. Walker, his wife, Kelley, and their daughter, Liadan, of Bellefonte, as well as Michael A. Walker, his wife, Bonnie, and daughter, Payton, of State College. Also surviving is his sister, Deloris Vonada, of Zion.
Ray was predeceased by a great grandson, Henry Allen Walker, son-in-law, Fred Riley, his brothers, Lynn, Neil, Larry, and a sister, Phyllis.
Ray was a past member of the Pleasant Gap American Legion Post 867. He was a life member of the Bellefonte Elks Lodge 1094. He was a member of the Old Fort Masonic Lodge 537, the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, and Scottish Rite Consistory of Williamsport.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation for his care at Schreffler Manor at the Oaks and with UPMC Family Hospice.
Per Ray's request there will be no public service. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
